Micah 4:1-5

Theme: Peace

Main Idea: True peace is found in Christ, who came and is coming again.

Questions from Micah 4:1-5

What is peace?

  • Summary of Micah 4:1-5: Micah prophesies a “last days” era of global peace where all nations flow to Jerusalem to learn God’s ways and enjoy biblical peace; namely, God making all things new.

  • Based on the sermon and this passage, how would you define “peace”? (Hint: Has to do with completeness, wholeness, flourishing; a Christ-centered peace vs. a situation-centered “peace”).

  • Jason showed us three pictures of peace according to our passage.

    • Peace in the World - vv 1-3

    • Peace in the Heart - v.4

    • Peace with the LORD - v5

  • Of these three pictures of peace, which meant the most to you? Why do you think that picture impacted you the most?

Why do we need peace?

  • Pastor Jason discussed three reasons we need peace.

    • The nations are not at peace with each other.

    • People are not at peace in their hearts.

    • People are not at peace with God.

  • Which reason grabbed your attention the most? What are some ways you are responding to this need for peace?

 Where is peace found?

  • Peace comes with the LORD and not through circumstances.

    • How can this truth help you in daily life?

  • Peace comes ultimately at the 2nd advent – Christ’s return.

    • How can this truth help shape your prayers?

  • Peace comes as we wait upon the LORD.

    • What disciplines help you wait upon the Lord?

  • Peace is made possible through the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ.

    • How can this truth battle against anxieties in you?

  • Peace is found in the righteousness of Christ imputed to our account.

    • How can this truth help quiet your conscience?

  • Peace is pursued as we put down our relational “spears and weapons” and pursue relationships through forgiveness and reconciliation.

    • What person needs your forgiveness, and how will you pursue reconciliation with this person?

  • Peace is part of what helps unbelieving people come to faith.

    • How will you demonstrate your peace in Christ in the presence of unbelievers?

A closing benediction for your Growth Group

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.
