1 Corinthians: Part 4

Sunday, February 22, 2026

Main Idea: A mature church understands the gospel and it changes how they live.

Read the passage together and pray.

Main Passage:  1 Corinthians 2:6-16

Observations

  • Notice the two groups Paul addresses  – a natural person and a spiritual person.  Theologically, who is a “natural person”?  Who is a “spiritual person”?

  • Among the mature, there are two groups:  spiritually mature and spiritually immature.  Theologically, who is a spiritually mature person? Who is a spiritually immature person?

Questions

  • Question 1: How do I mature in my understanding of the gospel?

    • (2:6-13)

      • What was the Gospel acrostic Brian shared, and how can this tool help you grow in understanding the gospel?

      • In verse 9, we see Paul quoting Isaiah 64:4.  In what ways can this quote deepen and clarify your knowledge of God?

      • In verse 10, Paul talks about the Spirit. How does the Spirit bring you closer to God in knowledge that you can feel?

  • Question 2:  How does the gospel change us?

    • (2:14-16)

      • Notice verse 15. What does the term “judgment” mean? How can seeing wisdom as the way we look at all of life – and discernment as the practical steps we take when making decisions – help us the most?
