the mission of god

  • Creation, Fall, Redemption, New Creation

  • In light of God’s story children are: (this was Rob’s chart)

    • Gifts from God who bear his image

    • Sinners in need of redemption

    • Glorified resurrected beings in the presence of God

Have we lost our way?

  • The church is not supposed to replace you as a parent. The church assists and equips you as a parent

Main action points

  • Don’t give up - It’s not too late but you’ve got to get started

  • We want to come alongside you as a church

Questions for Greater Discussion:

  • Group Leaders: Look over the questions ahead of time and use the ones pertinent to your group demographics

  • Read 2 Corinthians 12:9-10. How does God have the capacity to work through your weakness in family life? What does it look like to allow God to strengthen you in leading your family towards Christ?

  • Have you lost your way as a parent in any ways? What are some situations where you feel like you really messed up? How did you need to ask the Lord and your children for forgiveness?

  • What are some areas we feel inadequate in parenting our kids in this current season? What are some struggles you are currently facing?

  • What are some action steps you need to/are taking to spiritually lead your children?

  • Even if you don’t currently have children, how are you involved in coming alongside parents in our church to raise up the next generation in the fear of the Lord?

  • Read John 1:12. How does God as our Heavenly Father dictate our understanding of Biblical parenting? How can we allow God to make us better parents?

  • How can you spiritually be parenting others in our church or in our group?

  • Where does your family fit in with your regular priorities?

  • Please remind your group of the few reminders at the top!

Pray and close it out!!
