What does this passage teach us historically?
- Abraham identifies as a sojourner and foreigner in his own promised land 
- Abraham is respected by the people in the land. 
- Abraham has a specific place in mind and seems to seek an honest marketplace transaction among the hittite leaders. 
- Ephron treats Abraham as a kinsman and freely offers him the cave to bury Sarah yet Abraham refuses 
- Abraham pays full price and does not allow any undeclared indebtedness to the pagan people of the land. 
- Abraham interacts with wicked men fairly, courteously, and prudently. 
- Abraham with this purchase fully cements his commitment to the promise of God that this land would be the land of his people.
