Why the issue matters
- There are 110 million forcibly displaced people around the world.
- These people are homeless and traumatized predominantly by war and persecution of some sort.
What Scripture says about it
- Jesus was a refugee
- God reminds Israel they were sojourners and strangers
- Treat the sojourners and strangers (refugees) with dignity and care
How we can respond
- Love your neighbor
- Pray
- Give
- Get involved
Questions for greater discussion
- What is a refugee and how should we understand this growing issue around the world?
- Wars and conflicts around the world often seem distant. What actions should we take to make ourselves more aware of compassion ministry and needs around the world
- What are some ways you have prioritized stuff/things over needs of people?
- As we wrap up our sermon series on Mercy, how has the Lord been convicting you regarding compassion, mercy for others, and meeting tangible needs?
- John Heading said this in his sermon, “How we treat the sojourners and strangers reveals to us how we serve Jesus.” How does this statement challenge you?
- Is the Lord prompting you to serve with “send relief” or refugee ministry at all? If so, what are you going to do to respond?
