“A magnifying church is a multiplying church.”  ~ Pastor Jason

Read aloud Acts 14:21-23.   Pray together.

Acts 14:21-23

LAUNCHING QUESTION

After gathering together on Vision Sunday morning and hearing the Discipleship Pathways presented and applied, in what ways were we helped to wholeheartedly follow Jesus Christ by knowing Him and making Him known? How can the main idea of the message help equip us to help others become disciplemakers?

Main Idea: We are a church whose focus is multiplication; not addition.

What questions do you have for your Growth Group leader over Sunday’s main idea? What implications come to mind regarding personal discipleship? Regarding group discipleship?  If questions arise that are difficult to answer, please reach out to the Director of groups here: dan.turner@ubcbeavercreek.com

With a desire to multiply, 4 steps are necessary to realize this desire.

  • Verse 21 shows that the gospel must be spoken to unbelievers. Pastor Jason alluded to three places: 1) Home 2) Work 3) and every other place.

    • What are some ways you are working to make clear the gospel at home? What are some ways you share the gospel at work? (Remember: We walk in wisdom and do good to others. This is “showing what the gospel does.” We speak the truth in love to others. This is “telling what the gospel is.”)

    • What are some ways you are showing goodness at home and work to others? What opportunities have you taken to talk about parts of if not the entire gospel to others? PRAY FOR EACH OTHER REGARDING THIS MINISTRY.

    • What recurring place or opportunity has God given you to befriend outsiders in order to begin talking about the gospel? Places like: where you have your hair cut or colored, places you take the kids to play, places you walk, eat, get icecream, or drink coffee, etc. (see 1 Peter 3:15; Col. 4:2-6)

Multiply disciples (vv. 21-22)

  • Pastor Jason said, “we are to be more than a believer & church attender. We also need to be disciples who are learners growing into leaders (i.e. influencers, facilitators, wise friends) who teach others how to learn, love, and lead others

    •  What are a couple of ways you involve yourself in that are helping you grow in learning, loving, and leading others?

    • How is UBC and our Discipleship Pathways helping to develop you into a disciple? What help are you lacking that UBC leaders would want to know about? Talk about these types of questions and if necessary send questions to: dan.turner@ubcbeavercreek.com

Multiplying leaders (v23)

  • Pastor Jason said, “a growing church needs to be growing leaders or else the church will die.”

    • What did he mean by this?

    • Did the revealed model of Discipleship Pathways help you locate where you can get training for leadership? If so, how will you utilize this training? If not, what is it about our Discipleship Pathways that is confusing or inadequate to you? Please share freely in your Growth Group your answers to the above questions with a heart of desiring to participate in the Pathways. Questions needing Staff interaction please reach out at dan.turner@ubcbeavercreek.com

 Multiplying Churches (v23)

  • Pastor Jason said, “ a magnifying church is a multiplying church.”

    • WE AS A CHURCH ARE FOCUSED ON PLANTING CHURCHES.

    • Within the 5 steps on the Discipleship Pathways where are YOU at?

  1. Step One: Discover

  2. Step Two: Connect

  3. Step Three: Form

  4. Step Four: Lead

  5. Step Five: Launch

    • What help do you need to take the next step in your maturation process? Who will you talk to about this step? When will you discuss this next step?

End the Growth Group by praying for our church to both mature and multiply.

A Passage to Ponder

“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

~ Matthew 28:18-20
