Advent
at
UBC
Advent is a special time of year when we prepare our hearts and minds for Christmas.
The word “Advent” means “coming” or “arrival,” and we’re excited to share this season with you, celebrating Christ’s first coming and anticipating His second coming. We hope you will join us in celebrating the Advent season this year at UBC.
Remembering Christ’s Arrival. Awaiting His Return.
UBC is structuring this year’s Advent series based on the four themes of hope, peace, joy, and love. This advent series will help us see how the advents of Jesus, both his being born as a baby and his future return as King, show us how God brings us hope, peace, joy, and love, and how he himself is a God of hope, peace, joy, and love.
This devotional is meant to supplement Sunday services with reflection and to encourage families or friends to engage with the text of Scripture we will be preaching through on Sunday mornings. So let’s, as a church, and as families, stir one another up, by way of reminder, about who Jesus is and what he did for us. Pray that this devotional will help you see Jesus as great, and help your family anticipate and celebrate both Jesus’s birth at Christmas and Christ’s second coming with eagerness.
